SB 87 -- CIVIL COMMITMENT OF SEX OFFENDERS
SPONSOR: Rohrbach (Smith)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 12 to 0.
This bill requires the multidisciplinary team assessment
concerning an alleged sexually violent predator to be filed with
the petition for civil commitment.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill merely corrects a few
errors in the original drafting of these sections.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Rohrbach; and Department of
Mental Health.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
